On Feb. 2, the Wisconsin Senate Judiciary Committee unanimously approved legislation that, if passed by the full Senate, could legalize the valuable CBD oil extracted from the marijuana plant in the treatment of seizures.

Without a dissenting vote, the Judiciary Committee advanced (R) Sen. Van Wanggard’s CBD bill before the full Senate for consideration, according to NBC 15.

“The proposal would allow parents of children who suffer from seizures to possess cannabidiol oil with a doctor’s certification. Parents who testified at a hearing for the bill earlier this week said they were heartbroken when similar legislation passed the Assembly last session but stalled in the Senate.”

Unfortunately for all concerned, there are two very formidable obstacles in the way of this critical legislation becoming reality: (R) Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald and Gov. Scott Walker. With the bill still needing to gain approval in the Senate and Assembly, many fear Gov. Walker and Fitzgerald will ultimately obstruct the bill’s passage.
