With the outdoor harvest season approximately 60 days out, online reports indicate the U.S. marijuana spot index for a pound of America’s finest herb has increased over the last week 8.1%, to $1,742 per pound.

According to Cannabis Benchmarks, “Indoor flower spanned from $1,000 to $3,500 per pound; the median price was $1,500. Greenhouse flower spanned from $1,200 to $2,800 per pound; the median price was $1,800. Outdoor flower spanned from $1,000 to $1,750 per pound; the median price was $1,350.”

Correcting a three-week slide in marijuana’s value, the U.S. spot index for recreational / medicinal pot increased for “prices” and “grow types” for cannabis cultivated in both greenhouses and indoors – while outdoor cultivators witnessed their chronic crops depreciating by 1.9%.

As the price for America’s chronic continues to vacillate, the seasonally adjusted price was bolstered by a 10% growth spurt in indoor flower production.

After last week’s disappointing announcement by the DEA to not reschedule marijuana – as many anticipated would happen – the agency’s proclamation that marijuana should remain a Schedule 1 narcotic within the CSA, has imparted a rather negative effect on the market’s overall optimism.

“It will likely slow the entrance into the cannabis industry of established product and service providers from traditional fields to some extent preventing businesses from taking advantage of resources that could help to optimize and streamline operations.”
