Selling more than $117-million worth of marijuana products during the month of April, over-the-counter sales of Colorado’s cannabinoid-rich concentrates skyrocketed by 125%, on a year-over-year basis.
Helping to elevate Colorado’s marijuana tax revenue for the first quarter of 2016, edibles and concentrates were high on everyone’s shopping list during the High Holiday month of 4.20. Generating approximately 1/3 of the state’s overall recreational sales, April’s total marijuana sales spiked 24% over April 2015, with concentrates contributing mightily to Colorado’s coffers. Also helping to elevate the Centennial State’s bottom line, edibles enjoyed a dizzying 53% increase in total sales during the month of April.

Cognizant of potential health concerns, pot tourists, patients, and locals alike are perpetually searching for that perfect cannabinoid delivery vehicle; hunting for that delicate balance between discretion and health – and thanks to our tasty and easily concealed concentrates – the popularity of dabbing has absolutely skyrocketed lately.
Blowing up from coast-to-coast, many anticipate the popularity of dabbing to grow exponentially as legalization takes root across the country.
The director of analytics for BDS, Tom Jones, predicted that Colorado’s sale of concentrates and edibles will smoke the sale of dried flower. Explaining, “The share of flower in dollars has dropped from 71% (of total sales) last year to 58% this year” in Colorado.
As new terpene and flavonoid-rich products are continuously rolled out with an emphasis on healthier consumption techniques, it should come as little shock that pre-run flower sales have fallen dramatically – plunging from 71% in 2015 to 58% in 2016.
