Cannabis should remain illegal because meth is dangerous and makes your teeth fall out.

The Drug Policy Alliance, a leading pro-legalization organization, is a “wolf in sheep’s clothing.”

These are all claims made in a newly revealed video showing Mormon leaders discussing their church’s response to marijuana law reform.

The clip, part of a trove of internal leaks, is an excerpt of a private meeting that took place a week after California voters narrowly rejected a measure to legalize cannabis in November 2010.

The videos, publicized by members of an ex-Mormon subreddit, mostly show discussions among members of the Quorum of Twelve, the second-highest-ranking leadership group in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS).

Marijuana legalization is back on the ballot again this year in California, as well as four other states, including Nevada. There, a separately leaked email revealed last month that local church leaders in Las Vegas were campaigning against the measure to end cannabis prohibition.

The message was quickly retracted after becoming public, likely due to concerns that the electoral activity could have jeopardized the church’s tax-exempt status. “The Church has not taken a position on the matter and no endorsement of a position was intended,” the retraction message said.
