Snoop’s New Weed Show Premieres September 5th on MTV

If the recent deluge of new cannabis programming coming to TV isn’t enough, Snoop Dogg has a new show on his hands with MTV, that will no doubt send ratings higher than some powerful White Widow.

The series is called Mary+Jane and focuses on two young women who set out to become “ganja-preneurs” by starting a marijuana delivery service in Los Angeles. They have a weed delivery app that is gaining popularity with foodies, celebrities, and hipsters, says the MTV release for the show on their website.

The writing, directing, and executive producing team are Deborah Kaplan and Harry Elfont (Can’t Hardly Wait) and Television 360 is the production company, who was also behind Game of Thrones. Mary+Jane is described as a single-camera, half-hour comedy.

Snoop Dogg as per usual is no slouch when it comes to his share of the work. Not only is the Doggfather an exec producer on the show, he wrote and performed the theme song and makes a cameo appearance somewhere near the end of one of the episodes.

This show tops off a laundry list of programs about weed that are scheduled to hit the airwaves or already have. These include Humboldt starring John Malkovich, Disjointed starring the Kathy Bates, Highland starring Margaret Cho, and various others that are in development or ready to be watched when their premiere hits.
